- ➤ The Ruby River Hotel proposed a 2,200 sqft dock on the Spokane River east of Division to improve safety for kayakers and canoers for $425,000; a City Hall meeting on Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. (comments due by Feb. 23) will review the project, which may debut this summer. The Spokesman-Review
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dr. James Record, dean of WSU medical school, announced his plan to step down and return to a faculty role in the Department of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences; he will serve until a successor is named with support from WSU's executive vice president. KHQ
- ➤ Eastern Washington University received a $1 million grant from Delta Dental to boost its dental hygiene program in Spokane. The funds will support a new master's degree in dental therapy & a 46-chair clinic on the Health Peninsula campus with the program moving there in late 2026. KHQ

- ➤ KXLY reports Spokane Police’s dialogue team is in high demand as community members turn to it for guidance — the team is managing more inquiries to foster local engagement. KXLY
- ➤ Veterans at Spokane Veterans Home face crowded living conditions and will get more space when plans for a new 120-bed facility move forward. Washington officials have secured a 41.5-acre site and are seeking funding from the Legislature and Governor—with an estimated $157 million overall cost—to start construction soon. KHQ
