- ➤ Spokane Children’s Theatre is staging Junie B. Jones the Musical through March 22 at its main stage — an adaptation of three books that follow the adventures of a spunky first grader. - ➤ Spokane Public Schools announced that the Adams Elementary rebuild on South Hill is on schedule, with demolition expected to finish in about two months and spring construction to bring a modern, community-focused facility. - ➤ Ferris High School parents will put on the 63rd Ham on Regal show to raise funds for school programs; the event begins Sunday, March 8 with Gram on Regal, includes weekday performances at 7 p.m. and concludes with two Saturday shows on March 14—featuring a playful O.I.N.K. Media theme. KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane County Fire District 9 received its ambulance service permit last week and is now training 15 recruits to operate three advanced ambulances — built with top-of-the-line equipment and designed to lower patient care costs without adding taxes. The service will soon expand EMS care for district 9 residents. KHQ
- ➤ Washington lawmakers approved a bill on Wednesday that gives Spokane’s Waste-to-Energy facility until December 2030 to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, as the facility must submit a compliance plan and receive no-cost carbon credits between 2027 and 2030 to avoid higher energy bills, with the measure now returning to the House for final approval.
