- ➤ A rockslide is blocking traffic on US-2 near Shadow Valley in both directions from Elk. Officials are monitoring the blockage and advising drivers to take alternate routes. KHQ
- ➤ A rockslide blocked Highway 2 near Shadow Valley in Spokane County at around 10:45 a.m. — crews from the Washington Department of Transportation are on their way and drivers should expect delays. KXLY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 26-year-old woman was arrested on March 6 on North Cedar Road near Deer Park for trying to break into two homes—she claimed she was kidnapped the day before and did not leave when residents called 911—after deputies found damage and sounds from the attic in one home. KXLY
- ➤ A Spokane man, 34-year-old Zachary Kennedy, was arrested on March 5 after deputies searched a rental home near two schools on North Perry Street and found a lab extracting DMT, a psilocybin mushroom operation, hazardous chemicals, and four firearms; he was released on his own recognizance and re-arrested on March 17 and now faces six felony charges including drug manufacturing and hazardous waste violations. - ➤ A Spokane jury convicted Gunnar Doughty, a felon with five convictions, of second-degree murder after he shot the 30 year old Dylan McCorkle outside his home in the Logan Neighborhood last year during an argument over a girlfriend—Doughty now faces up to life in prison. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ Brandon Scott forced an Alaska Airlines flight to divert to Spokane on July 5, 2023 by handing a note that said there was a bomb+ he pleaded guilty and police found no bomb+ his sentencing will be on May 21. KHQ
