  • Prosecutors said Travis Johnson—41 and arrested last summer in Kootenai County on unrelated charges—is accused of fatally shooting a woman at her Hamilton Street home in Spokane and may face first-degree murder charges, with his bond set at $1 million and his next court appearance scheduled for April 8.  KXLY

  • Lauren Betts scored 31 points for UCLA as they beat Ole Miss by a score of 76 to 62 at the Spokane Arena on Friday—The Bruins will play LSU on Sunday at the same arena.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Former Gonzaga standout Drew Timme signed a multi-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets after scoring 50 points in a G League game last week — he is expected to play in an NBA game soon. The Nets announced the deal on Friday and did not release further details.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Spokane native Nathan Longhurst completed the New Zealand Alpine Club’s 100 Peaks Challenge in 103 days by climbing and paragliding across steep peaks including his final climb on the Footstool — he will return to Spokane in early May to present details of his achievement.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Spokane sports fans are gathering today at Butterfly Plaza for the Fan Fest Block Party presented by Washington Trust Bank, which celebrates Sweet 16 college basketball games and the PNQ volleyball tournament. The event runs from noon until 5 p.m. and features a free WSU Cougar football practice—plus live music, a beer garden, food trucks, free hot cocoa for the first 200 guests and vintage t-shirts for the first 300.  KXLY
