COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Local organizations are hosting Easter events this weekend (including egg hunts and seasonal crafts) for families in Spokane. KXLY
- ➤ Our Place, a local nonprofit at 1509 W College Ave, is asking for donations as demand for its food pantry and hygiene services increased 20% last year; donation drop-offs are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. KXLY
- ➤ Construction began Monday on East Wellesley and East Sprague, and a Nine Mile sidewalk project entered its final phase. East Wellesley is closed—as a $4.5 million effort to replace water mains and resurface the street—and East Sprague has reduced lanes, with all work expected to finish by summertime. KHQ

- ➤ Mandi Rehn, the current superintendent at Valley School District, was chosen by the East Valley School Board to lead the district starting in July — her appointment followed a 13-hour interview process and comes ahead of a $220 million bond vote for school renovations in April. - ➤ Spokane Transit Authority plans a bus stop at Division and Buckeye in 2028 and Army Surplus Store owner David Arnold warns frequent crashes at the intersection may endanger riders if the stop stays at its current location — STA will decide next year. KXLY

- ➤ Last week, a service elevator at Sacred Heart Hospital stopped twice as its code-compliant safety features engaged, so officials removed it from use and began an investigation with the manufacturer. Two caregivers inside sought medical evaluation, and no structural failure occurred. KHQ
