COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Corbin Senior Activity Center, a local hub for seniors, has faced program cuts until the city recommended raising its funding; the boost from $31,000 to $46,000 (a nearly 50% increase) is intended to keep programs running today. KXLY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ East Valley School District is placing a bond on the April ballot to fund repairs for middle and high schools (its first bond in 30 years) after a February measure fell short of a supermajority. The district will host a register-to-vote and pizza night on April 16 to build support. KHQ
- ➤ Local spring break camps provide a structured activity option for kids ages 6 to 11. Hub Sports Center will host Operation Spring Break from April 6 to 8 featuring themed days (Superhero Day, Spy School, Roadblox) with scholarships available for qualifying families. KXLY
- ➤ Washington lawmakers directed the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges to deliver a report by December examining how to eliminate redundant costs amid budget strain while keeping campuses open. - ➤ At Fairchild Air Force Base on March 31, 15 Team Fairchild Airmen received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star Medal for heroic combat actions. Maj. Gen. Charles Bolton led the ceremony that honored the team along with support crews. KHQ

- ➤ Spokane's Boulevard Race placed second in the USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards as of April 1 and will be held on Sept. 20— the four-mile run benefits the Community Cancer Fund with a course featuring local landmarks, cheer zones, live bands and unique treats. KHQ
- ➤ Mark Few was announced to be heading to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame after building Gonzaga's top basketball team in the Inland Northwest. His work has turned Gonzaga into one of the best teams in the country and inspired local sports fans. The Spokesman-Review
