- ➤ The boat ramp at Amber Lake southwest of Cheney will be closed Wednesday morning for improvements as volunteer members of the Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club and Spokane Fly Fishers add new gravel. A Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesperson said the work will finish by about noon while both clubs share the cost. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ Glenn Morris from Spokane Valley received a cashier’s check from Dickey’s BBQ Pit to resolve a pay dispute that began last summer when his employer closed its two businesses—help from Chris Perkins and local community groups enabled the resolution as he now looks forward to a long-awaited steak dinner. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On April 4, the Spokane County Medical Examiner identified Steven Davis, 40, as the sole occupant who died when his SUV hit a large sign on the 800 block of S. Main Street in Deer Park—investigators believe excessive speed and impairment contributed to the crash as Davis was not wearing a seatbelt. KHQ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Spokane County Medical Examiner said 49-year-old William Krieg died from multiple gunshot wounds during a suspected burglary in Mead Monday near Grace Street and North Sheridan Street when two women confronted him and another man; after one man fled and Krieg hit 47-year-old Cheyanne Humphrey with a rock, Humphrey shot him and was arrested as a felon prohibited from having a firearm. - ➤ Shawn Humphrey, his son Cody, and guide Brian Sanders hunted for a bull elk in the Wenaha unit along Fairview Canyon where charges were filed in October but dropped in February — defense showed the hunt took place in Oregon per the Washington constitution's definition of the 46th parallel. - ➤ Spokane deputies involved in the January 2024 fatal shooting of 55-year-old Richard Rogissart in North Spokane will not face charges as prosecutor Larry Haskell said they were justified when Rogissart swung an axe at them— the Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team reviewed the incident. - ➤ The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified William Krieg, 49, as the man shot and killed on April 7 in Mead—he was found unresponsive in a residence on the 11600 block of North Sheridan Street and his death was ruled a homicide. KHQ
- ➤ Terry Delozier, 78, a Spokane man reported missing on March 16 after telling his family he planned to visit relatives in Portland, was confirmed dead by the Spokane County Medical Examiner following an incident on Westbow Road—details about his death remain pending. KHQ
- ➤ Four Spokane County deputies shot 55-year-old Richard Rogissart in January on North Calispel Street when he allegedly swung an axe at them after repeated calls for surrender failed, and the Spokane County Prosecutor ruled that their use of force was justified. KHQ

- ➤ The City of Spokane said they will add 50 new bike racks around town this summer to encourage more cycling. Some racks are already in place and officials plan future locations based on requests from the community. KXLY
