- ➤ River Valley communities began cleaning up storm damage after a severe storm hit the area recently—crews and residents worked to remove debris and restore utilities. Recovery efforts will continue as officials monitor the situation and plan further repairs. KXLY

- ➤ Former Navy sailors in Spokane formed the Brig and Fo’c’s’le Cub in 1931 as a meeting club for veterans that also ran a bar. The club built a float to look like a Navy ship on a truck that was used in parades to sell war bonds (neighbors complained about it in 1937). The Spokesman-Review
