- ➤ A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash near Marshall on Sunday morning when he hit a pickup truck towing a utility trailer on South Cheney Spokane Road—police said the pickup driver, who remained at the scene, was later cited for driving while suspended and other violations as the investigation continues. - ➤ Spokane Tribal Police are searching for a 31-year-old Indigenous man, Cody Burris also known as Bigsmoke, who was last seen April 19 near East Sixth Avenue and Connie Avenue in Spokane—he is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds, has a red handprint tattoo below his left eye and music notes above his right eyebrow, and anyone with tips should call Spokane Crime Check at 509-456-2233 referencing case number 2025-20081553. - ➤ Spokane Valley Police Department deputies arrested a man accused of setting a house on fire near 4th Avenue and Coleman Road at around 3 a.m. on April 26, and fire crews quickly knocked down the blaze while investigating other fires that damaged nearby properties before booking him into Spokane County Jail. - ➤ USA Today named Spokane’s Centennial Trail as the third-best recreational trail and Riverfront Park as the eighth-best riverwalk for 2025 in its Readers’ Choice Awards plus selections were made by both editors and readers. The trail winds through eastern Washington while the park, converted from an old railway yard, offers ice skating, rides and play areas although some sites close in winter. KHQ

- ➤ Maddie's Place, a local nursery caring for babies born addicted to drugs, will remain open after the state legislature approved $2M from the Opioid Abatement Fund. The House passed the proposed budget on Sunday and the Senate is expected to vote later before Governor Ferguson approves it, with funding arriving on July 1. KXLY

- ➤ Mount Spokane softball stayed unbeaten after a 10-0 win over Mead on Thursday, with junior pitcher Addison Jay throwing a complete game that allowed only three hits and 10 strikeouts.
