ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Emergency crews responded to a rollover collision that blocked Highway 2—at milepost 293 where it meets Holland Avenue in North Spokane at 2:38 p.m. on April 29th, and officials have not yet provided a reopening time. KXLY
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Avista announced that a planned power outage will affect about 3,200 electric customers in Inchelium on May 8. The outage will allow crews to perform essential maintenance on power equipment — no road closures are expected. KHQ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An 18-year-old man, Quentin Hutchinson, turned himself in Monday to Spokane police after he was accused of shooting two people at the Maverick gas station on North Division Street where one victim died — his bond was set at $1 million. KHQ
- ➤ Justus Cyr, a 41-year-old inmate, was fatally assaulted in his cell early Tuesday at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell—authorities say the alleged attacker is in custody and DOC and Connell Police Department are investigating. KXLY

- ➤ The City of Spokane launched a new pilot program with ParkMobile yesterday in the Entertainment Parking District to let visitors park for more than two hours for dinner and a show — the program requires the app, shows a 2+ sticker on devices, and charges $1.70 per hour for the first two hours with increased rates for extra time. - ➤ Spokane County Commissioner Al French secured $7.5 million in state funding to install Point-of-Entry Treatment systems that filter water in West Plains areas affected by PFAS contamination—county officials will work with the state Department of Ecology and Spokane Regional Health District to prioritize installations, with funds available by early fall. - ➤ On Monday, Spokane City Council adopted an emergency ordinance that prohibits off-premises alcohol outlets within 500 feet of parks, schools, libraries, transit centers, and community centers—meant to enhance community safety.
