  • Garden Expo marks 25 years on Saturday, May 9 at Spokane Community College (1810 N. Greene St.) with over 300 vendors offering plants, crafts, and live seminars from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free parking is available off Mission Street.  The Spokesman-Review

CULTURE NEWS

  • Spokane voters ranked their favorite Bloomsday finisher T-shirts by design, with Ken Spiering’s 1996 shirt leading at 12.3% as reported by The Spokesman-Review. The poll reflects a tradition that grew from 1,200 shirts in 1977 & about 45,000 today.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Local band Tomboy opened for the All American Rejects at a secret concert in Browne's Addition on Sunday, May 3, after the show was announced just 2 hours ahead. The event gave Spokane music fans a chance to see a surprise performance + enjoy a lively community moment.  KHQ

  • Bob Thornton, a longtime Bloomsday runner, readies himself for the 50th race today while honoring his late brother Bruce + recalling how a high school invitation by race founder Don Kardong started a cherished tradition.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The Spokane Indians were shut out 11-0 by the Eugene Emeralds on Saturday when the visitors hit 12 times including a key two-run home-run by Dakota Jordan. The series continues today at 1:05 p.m.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Bloomsday races kicked off with the Marmot March today in Spokane as runners gathered for a festive local run. The event brought neighbors together to celebrate community spirit and healthy living.  KXLY
  • Eastern Washington football team finished 15 spring practice sessions on Friday night with a game that showcased a close quarterback battle, special teams tweaks, and versatile safety play.   • Former Bloomsday champion Jon Sinclair returns today for the race's 50th celebration along the downtown course while his wife Kim Jones will run ceremoniously.   • The Zephyr stayed in the postseason race after a scoreless draw with top-ranked Lexington at ONE Spokane Stadium on Saturday. Star keeper Hope Hisey made key saves and the team will host DC on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m.  The Spokesman-Review
