  • Thousands ran and walked in Spokane's Bloomsday race on Sunday afternoon, finishing in sunny weather and receiving shirts with a lilac shoe print design and 'Bloomsday 2025.' The race, which marked its (48th) year, had 35,168 registrants (32,926 in person and 2,242 virtually).  KXLY
  • Last weekend, gardening fans boosted their yards with a plant and flower sale at Manito Park on Spokane's South Hill — hosted by the Associated Garden Club, which also gave free plants to kids for Mother's Day. Those who missed the sale can look forward to another chance on June 7 when the Friends of Manito hold their Spring Plant Sale.  KHQ

  • Rattlesnake season has begun and conservationists from Cowiche Canyon Conservancy have shared tips for hikers to wear sturdy shoes and long pants—advice that urges staying on trails and moving away slowly if a rattlesnake is heard—while warning anyone bitten to seek medical help immediately.  KHQ

  • Downtown Spokane is set to transform as a $5.5 million project — the historic Jefferson and Norman buildings will be refurbished to add 40 new apartments and four street-level commercial spaces offering studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.  KHQ

  • Live coverage of Bloomsday 2025 began at 7 a.m. on May 4 and reported Spokane's annual 12k race highlights — including race results and inspiring moments — as local fans followed every step.  KHQ
  • Bill Voiland, who had a stroke, finished his third Bloomsday Race on Sunday with help from a walker and more than 32,000 other runners. He ran with his sister, who was new to the race, and his simple advice is to take one step after the other — a message that shows his determination.  KXLY
