- ➤ The Emerson-Garfield Farmers' Market is moving to Emerson Park on Alice Avenue near Monroe Street for the 2025 season. The market will run every Friday from 3-7 p.m. starting June 6 through September 26—providing more parking and a shadier canopy for vendors and customers. KXLY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding 56-year-old Stanial Ray Ferraro, who was last seen in Davenport on April 29, at Northern Quest Casino on May 2, and near Francis and Wall Street on May 3—he last texted his family at 9:42 a.m. on May 4 and anyone with information should call 1-509-725-3501. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Pines Middle School activated a brief Secure and Teach protocol today to support a student in personal crisis. The safety measure lasted about (10 minutes) and helped staff keep classes safe and focused. KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane City Council voted Monday night to remove the John R. Monaghan statue from downtown Spokane due to concerns over its outdated language and intersection safety — the 1906 statue will be returned to his family with no set timeline. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane officials are reviewing the Spokane Skylines zipline plan, which will start at Riverfront Park, zip under Monroe Street Bridge, and end at Redband Park (city approval is expected next month). The operator will pay for construction while the city will lend the land for about $62,000 a year (efforts are underway to address local parking concerns). KXLY
- ➤ Survivors of clergy abuse defended a Washington law signed on May 2 that requires clergy to report child abuse without protecting confession details—refuting DOJ claims that the law is anti-Catholic. Law sponsor Sen. Noel Frame and affected survivors stressed that the bill applies to all faiths and aligns with similar rules in other states. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ Gonzaga grad and UW medical student Matthew Lumsden volunteered with Spokane Regional Health District’s Syringe Services to distribute Narcan—helping protect vulnerable community members from fentanyl overdoses.
