- ➤ 2nd Harvest Inland Northwest will receive 1,080 cases of 2% milk on May 15 from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that come from its Utah dairy farm—about 20% of which will support families in North Idaho through partner food banks. KHQ

- ➤ A crash on I-90 eastbound near Hamilton St blocked the left lane at 12:40 p.m. today—causing significant delays as the Washington State Department of Transportation monitors the situation. KHQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Conservation efforts along the Spokane River show progress as the Department of Ecology said five wastewater treatment plants and industrial facilities reduced phosphorus discharge by over 90% using new technology since the 2010 water cleanup plan. The department is now working to cut nonpoint pollution — the largest remaining phosphorus source that mostly comes from Hangman Creek. KXLY

- ➤ Retired Air Force survival instructor and downtown cigar lounge co-owner Cody Arguelles is running for Spokane City Council to replace Councilman Zack Zappone. Arguelles, an architecture student at Washington State University who is medically retired from service, says he wants measurable accountability for issues like homelessness, public safety and business permitting — he has received endorsements from local political leaders. - ➤ A proposed federal budget cut that would remove the Community Development Block Grant program is threatening SNAP—Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners, a longstanding resource that helps low and moderate-income households with home repairs, counseling and business support. SNAP said the program repaired 276 homes last year and if the cut goes through, many residents will lose essential services for safe housing and economic stability. KXLY
