- ➤ A car crashed through the front entrance of River Park Square Mall on May 15 after hitting a parked car — the driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and police temporarily closed Main Avenue. KXLY

- ➤ No-Li Brewhouse from Spokane won four bronze medals at the Australian International Brewing Awards in Melbourne. Its awards honor beers including Corner Coast Golden Ale, Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout, Cascade Fog Hazy IPA + Big Juicy IPA and bring its total international medal count to 195. KXLY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Spokane County authorities arrested a 15-year-old suspect in Deer Park after serving a search warrant at his home Tuesday morning in connection with a commercial burglary on May 5 and a car shooting on May 7; the suspect, who ran when ordered and later surrendered, had stolen items in his room and now faces felony charges for burglary, theft, malicious mischief and obstructing law enforcement while police continue investigating—seeking another suspect. - ➤ The missing 16-year-old Indigenous girl last seen on May 12 near West 4th Avenue and South Wall Street in downtown Spokane was found safe on May 15 at 5:05 p.m.—she was reported missing on May 13. KXLY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Spokane Public Schools announced that a $200 million bond to upgrade Adams and Madison elementary schools and North Central High will appear on the November 4 ballot following a board decision Wednesday night—taxpayers will pay between 6—31 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. KHQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown lowered flags at all City facilities to half-staff on May 15 for Peace Officers Memorial Day after Governor Bob Ferguson directed that state and U.S. flags be lowered for the day. Flags remained lowered until sundown to honor peace officers who lost their lives or became disabled in the line of duty. City of Spokane
- ➤ Governor Bob Ferguson signed House Bill 1258 yesterday, which gives Spokane fair funding to build its own emergency communications system. City leaders said the law is key for 911 services — mediation among the city, county and regional board will start in the coming weeks. City of Spokane

- ➤ Thursday’s high school sports action from the Greater Spokane League saw Lewis and Clark beat Richland 3 to 0 with Noah Estrada scoring and assisting — Central Valley won 4 to 1 over Ridgeline and West Valley claimed a 2 to 1 overtime win against Pullman to advance, while East Valley earned the District 6 2A softball title with a 17 to 8 victory and Gonzaga Prep and Hanford won their baseball games to move into next-round matchups.
