- ➤ A study by Spokane’s University District found a wide gap in affordable child care for families struggling to find local options (the state lost 2,000 providers in the past 12 years). CEO Juliet Sinisterra said plans for new child care solutions will be implemented in coming years to help create a more family-friendly neighborhood. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane’s annual Lilac Festival is underway this weekend, with Friday events including the Queen’s Luncheon and President’s Gala and Saturday activities featuring Brewfest, a car show, and a marketplace as the day wraps up with the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade at 7:30 p.m. that honors military groups & Fairchild Air Force Base. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., Washington State Patrol slowed traffic on I-90 near Geiger Boulevard after officers saw three pedestrians walking along the median, and one pedestrian tried to cross eastbound lanes — nearly causing a crash as officers escorted the others off the freeway. KXLY

- ➤ Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan will headline the Outlaw Music Festival this upcoming Thursday at ONE Spokane Stadium with a lineup that also features Lilly Meola, Sierra Hull and Billy Strings. - ➤ Mayor Lisa Brown said that the U.S. Commerce Department canceled $48 million in funding for the Spokane Aerospace Tech Hub, a move that she said undercuts plans to boost aerospace manufacturing—she urged congressional leaders to reverse the decision. City of Spokane
- ➤ Gonzaga University and the City of Spokane urged the EPA on May 16th at 10 a.m. to reverse its May 2 notice to end a $19.9 million grant — which funds HVAC upgrades in low-income homes and community safety hubs.
