- ➤ Local gold star families are pressing local leaders for increased support to help with unique military bereavement needs, and advocacy groups are urging a review of available community resources. The push aims to boost local programs to better serve affected families. KXLY
- ➤ On Monday, May 25, hundreds of veterans and families gathered at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake to honor fallen service members. The ceremony included reading names and ringing a bell — a tribute to sacrifice — that resonated with all in attendance. KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane County commissioners will vote Tuesday afternoon on a plan to reimburse the Spokane Regional Health District up to $100,000 for two PFAS navigators to assist West Plains residents with contaminated wells. The navigators will recruit, hire + supervise staff to help prioritize household filtration needs from Jan. 1 through Sept. 30. KHQ
- ➤ Cheney residents must follow a new watering schedule as sprinkler season begins. Even-numbered addresses water on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday while odd ones water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; no watering is allowed on Monday and sprinklers run from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (two-hour limit per session).
