- ➤ On May 27, a collision on US 2 near Lane Park Road injured a 22-year-old motorcyclist with a non-life-threatening broken leg when a 79-year-old driver turned west without yielding—police cleared the scene. KHQ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Spokane County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 41-year-old man at 11:20 p.m. Monday after witnesses reported he repeatedly hit a pregnant woman in a vehicle on the 7000 block of N. Wall Street and the victim received medical care, while the suspect faces charges of felony domestic violence order violation, assault 4th degree (DV) and unlawful imprisonment (DV). KHQ

- ➤ After a record Memorial Day weekend, millions of Americans traveled as TSA screened over 18 million people to start a busy summer season. At Spokane International Airport, officials expect more than 4,000 passengers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. — extra flights to key markets will help meet rising demand. KXLY

- ➤ Spokane astronaut Anne McClain held a live video chat with 1,300 local elementary and middle school students Tuesday as she answered questions about life on the International Space Station and encouraged them to pursue their dreams. - ➤ On May 22, Spokane police conducted an eight-hour Click It or Ticket patrol that issued 123 infractions including 24 speeding tickets, 17 cell phone violations, 33 seatbelt violations and 22 no insurance citations and arrested nine drivers for suspended licenses and missing ignition interlock devices—officials said the effort aimed to curb unsafe driving. - ➤ The U.S. Attorney's Office and City of Spokane appointed Annika Tangvald as a special federal prosecutor to handle illegal narcotics cases in the community. She was sworn in on May 19 by Acting U.S. Attorney Rich Barker — her appointment strengthens local efforts to hold drug traffickers accountable. KXLY
