CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Spokane County Sheriff's Office said that the missing 11-year-old boy with autism named Maxwell was found safe after being last seen near 61st Avenue and South Cook Street in Spokane. KXLY
- ➤ A 21-year-old man—William Baldwin—was accused of shooting and killing Hasani Vita near the Amazon fulfillment facility along I-90 and had his first court appearance on Thursday after being arrested on April 29 in North Spokane on a second-degree murder charge. KHQ
- ➤ Spokane police arrested a man in a drive-by shooting early Thursday morning in north Spokane after multiple 911 calls reported gunshots near Rockwell Avenue and Alberta Street which led to two women and a child exiting a home and later to the arrest of Steven Davis, 23, who now faces charges of unlawful possession of a gun and second-degree assault as the investigation continues. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Edwidge Woldson Park, crews treated the area for wildfire fuel reduction last month using a woodchipper from a $1.5 million grant to clear vegetation — a move that has revealed more of the park’s natural features. The proposed levy would fund trail upgrades such as a new ADA-accessible path if voters approve, further connecting parks and safe routes to schools. City of Spokane
- ➤ Spokane City Council will hold a Town Hall meeting for District 2 residents at the MLK Community Center (500 S Stone St) on Monday, June 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Business owners and workers are encouraged to join the discussion and sign up online to speak. KHQ
- ➤ Washington will require all new drivers under 22 to complete driver’s education by 2030 and will add extra safety training for young drivers with two moving violations by 2031. A voucher program + funded by increased fees will help lower-income families pay for courses that can cost over $600 + officials say the changes aim to boost road safety. KXLY

- ➤ The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled three brands of kitchen faucets sold on Amazon yesterday for lead concerns that may harm young children—over 100,000 units are affected and consumers should stop using them and ask for a refund. KHQ
