CRIME NEWS

  • A man was arrested in Spokane for a drive-by shooting early Saturday when police found him hiding in a car on Liberty and Haven at about 5:40 a.m. + SWAT officers briefly shut down streets near Monroe and West Montgomery + police said no one was injured and another woman was arrested in connection with the incident.  KXLY
  • Two people were arrested for an early Saturday morning drive-by shooting near Liberty Avenue and Market Street in northeast Spokane—police said a vehicle was damaged and no one was injured while 26-year-old Allie J. Alderson and 32-year-old Zachary D. Gring were booked on multiple charges, including drive-by shooting and firearm offenses.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Spokane police arrested 32-year-old Zachary Gring and 26-year-old Allie Alderson Saturday morning in connection with a drive-by shooting near Liberty Avenue and Market Street that followed a similar incident on Friday.  KXLY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Spokane County Fire District 3 warned that high winds in Spokane County on Saturday increased wildfire risks and advised residents to avoid burning debris, follow local burn bans, and keep water and fire extinguishers ready—steps aimed at preventing small fires from spreading.  KXLY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Speechie in Spokane is a new speech therapy clinic on East Sprague Avenue that offers free screenings, evaluations, and tailored therapy sessions for children ages 3 and older + appointments are available with no waiting list.  KXLY
  • Spokane will host free fitness classes this summer at Riverfront Park with options from Pilates to Jazzercise; the series will begin on Tuesday, June 3 at 6 p.m. at Gesa Pavilion—Precision Pilates of Spokane will lead the opening session—and more classes are set through August.  KXLY
