- ➤ The American Indian Community Center is raising money to build a permanent home at High Bridge Park after moving 11 times in 50 years. It runs a daily food bank + offers child welfare, job training and reentry programs and has raised $2 million of its $16.5 million goal. KXLY

- ➤ Two people were displaced after a house fire on West Gardner Avenue started when a lit cigarette ignited cottonwood pollen and swept flames across the porch, with firefighters controlling the blaze within 20 minutes and one person taken to the hospital for a knee injury. KXLY

- ➤ Evictions have soared across Washington as rising rents and stagnant wages overwhelmed legal aid for low-income tenants plus Spokane County saw a 30% increase in filings from last fiscal year, and a new law limits yearly rent hikes to 7% plus inflation but may not stop all future evictions. - ➤ Every weekday morning at 8 a.m. the Walking School Bus picks up 42 Regal Elementary students to help them get to school safely—teachers and volunteers working together.
