- ➤ Caritas Food Bank moved to a larger location in Spokane and now doubles the number of families it serves, with over 40 families visiting daily. The new facility has fresh food shelves and refrigerators — Executive Director Christine Tabat said the move keeps clients out of harsh weather. KXLY
- ➤ The Lilac Bloomsday Association is now accepting applications for its 2026 Charity of Choice program which will let one local nonprofit partner with the region’s long-loved Bloomsday run on May 3. Nonprofits from all sectors must send a two-page application by July 31 by mail to 1414 N. Belt, Spokane & email Bethany Lueck, with decisions coming by early October. KXLY

- ➤ On Father's Day, Richard Embree planned a motorcycle ride and fishing trip with his daughter but was fatally struck near Stateline by carjacking suspect Ryan Tietsort—an incident linked to a violence spree that began in Spokane Valley, while his family now asks for community prayers and will hold a celebration of life on July 19. - ➤ Dreama Taylor, 26, went missing from Spokane on June 13 — she was last seen wearing a brown tank top and torn light blue jeans and leaving her pets behind; she reportedly struggles with fentanyl addiction and was last with her boyfriend Julio Morales. KHQ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Spokane’s Jedi Alliance arcade is in the running to be named one of Newsweek’s Best 10 Arcades in the country. The arcade has over 150 games and a pop culture museum and allows visitors to vote once per day until voting closes on July 17 at noon ET with winners announced on July 24. KHQ
- ➤ An art installation by Italian expressionist Monet Lyons is now on display at River Park Square. The Downtown Spokane Partnership collaborated with Lyons on Free Love Letters—an artwork inviting locals to share stories that capture downtown Spokane. KHQ

- ➤ Spokane released its 2024 water quality report that confirmed the city met all state and federal standards while detecting low PFAS levels at three wells still below state action levels.
