ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Spokane Police is investigating a fatal accident in downtown Spokane after a motorcycle that fled an attempted stop on June 20th collided with a vehicle near 4th and Stevens — the rider died at the scene despite immediate help from bystanders and officers. City of Spokane
- ➤ A crash near Deer Park sent four people to the hospital Sunday morning on Highway 395 near Spotted Road after a 68-year-old Deer Park woman turned left in front of a northbound vehicle—drugs or alcohol are suspected in the incident. KXLY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Admission Counselor Megan Baird explains that Gonzaga students can find on-campus jobs—ranging from tutoring to working at the fitness center—by creating a profile and uploading their resume through the ZagsIgnite platform. First-year students will receive an email in July with detailed instructions, and by early August they will apply for positions and schedule interviews with supervisors. Gonzaga University
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Washington Traffic Safety Commission and the State Patrol said they will increase patrols on I-90 from June 27th to 29th to target impaired driving and speeding during Hoopfest weekend along stretches from King to Spokane counties—last year, 33 impaired drivers were removed. Officers will focus on keeping roads safe for families and visitors. KHQ
- ➤ On Monday, June 23rd, the Spokane Alliance and Councilmembers Paul Dillon and Zack Zappone backed the Public Dollars for Public Benefit Ordinance — a measure requiring contractors to offer apprenticeships and fair benefits — to ensure public funds boost local infrastructure jobs and support low-income and underrepresented residents. - ➤ The Washington State Parks department and the Spokane Nordic Ski Association are asking for community input on Mount Spokane State Park’s future with the Master Plan Alternatives Report, which offers Community Mountain and Recreation Destination visions—residents must submit comments by July 14.
