- ➤ Fire crews put out the 12th brush fire set intentionally along Upriver Drive at a popular Spokane recreation area between Camp Sekani biking trails and Boulder Beach—officials warn that the repeated arson risks damage to life and property and ask residents to report suspicious activity to 911. - ➤ On June 20th, a driver fled a routine traffic stop in Spokane Valley and was arrested early Friday after deputies used spike strips and a PIT maneuver—he faces charges of DUI, attempting to elude law enforcement, and driving while suspended with a $20,000 bond. KXLY

- ➤ Today, Spokane has partly sunny skies with highs in the low 80s as wildfire smoke from the Pomas Fire drifts in. Next week, temperatures will be nearly 20 degrees above average — dry conditions and hazy skies are expected with Hoopfest weekend forecast to see highs in the 80s before a rise into the 90s. KXLY
- ➤ Yesterday at 12:15 p.m., the City of Spokane released its Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment that shows how events—heat, wildfires, flooding, and drought—are affecting local infrastructure and daily routines. - ➤ Spokane’s City Council approved contracts for a 1400-foot zipline project that will run downtown from A Place of Truth Plaza through an arch on Monroe Street Bridge—landing at Redband Park. The project will be managed by Spokane Skylines LLC of Mica Moon with construction by Synergo as part of efforts to boost tourism and enhance accessibility. KHQ
- ➤ The City of Spokane requires all water customers to follow an odd-even outdoor watering schedule through October 1 to conserve water during hot months—homeowners with odd addresses water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while those with even addresses water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with exemptions for trees, new landscapes, vegetable gardens and wildfire risks. The schedule will change with drought levels to protect the water supply and the Spokane River. KXLY
- ➤ The Washington State Department of Transportation says paving work will close the Maple Street ramps with I-90 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday. Drivers should use the Monroe Street ramp for westbound and the Division Street ramp for eastbound — detours are in effect due to lane restrictions — and plan for delays. KXLY
