- ➤ Simeon Wiens, a 13-year-old from Spokane who went missing while visiting Bellevue near Factoria Mall on Friday, was found and reunited with his family on July 12th at 2:48 p.m.—Bellevue police said a coordinated search effort led to his recovery. KHQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ American white pelicans, weighing up to 30 pounds with large orange bills, are returning to inland waters along the Snake River near Clarkston this summer — their graceful flight and fishing techniques show a strong recovery after decades of low numbers — and they will start their migration south in September. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane City Council’s northwest seat is the only one with enough candidates on the August primary ballot out of three seats up. Liberal incumbent councilman Zack Zappone faces conservative challengers Chris Savage and Cody Arguelles — ballots will be mailed to voters starting Wednesday — with votes due Aug. 5 and the top two advancing to November.
