CRIME NEWS

  • A woman crashed her car into Rick's Ringside Pub in Spokane’s Garland District around 2 a.m. Thursday and later was arrested on a DUI charge after fleeing on foot—she was identified using security camera footage—and her car was towed with no injuries reported.  KHQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. Andy Riccelli announced he secured more than $6 million in state funds for three local affordable housing initiatives — $1.5 million for a Lower South Hill senior housing project, utility fee waivers for nonprofit developers, and $4.7 million to support the VOA Crosswalk youth shelter set to open at the end of August.  KXLY
  • Spokane County records show that several marriage licenses were issued to local couples from Spokane, Spokane Valley and Mead—while local courts processed new civil suits, granted marriage dissolutions and legal separations, and imposed a range of criminal sentences from fines to jail time.   • Drivers in Spokane are advised to plan detours as Carlisle Avenue and Ralph Street will close from Monday, July 21 to Friday, August 1 for North Spokane Corridor construction. The Washington State Department of Transportation detailed that the detour will use Greene Street — Euclid Avenue — Freya Street — Upriver Drive.  KHQ
