- ➤ A Spokane nonprofit, Spring of Hope International, is hosting a run at Life Center tomorrow at 8 a.m. to raise awareness and funds for clean water access in Kenya—participants will walk the final 100 meters with a bucket on their head to simulate the daily burden faced by women and girls. KHQ
- ➤ A new tiny home community for the homeless is coming to Spokane's West Hills neighborhood as the Waters Meet Foundation will build 30 small homes at West 7th Avenue and South Audubon Street. The project offers shared spaces such as bathrooms, showers, and a communal kitchen—along with a community meeting on July 31 and an expected completion by September. KXLY

- ➤ Authorities arrested 28-year-old Ian S. Richart Friday morning after a SWAT standoff—he was wanted for an assault in north Spokane on June 27 and faced charges of burglary, kidnapping and unlawful possession of a firearm as officers detained a woman on an unrelated warrant. KXLY
- ➤ U.S. District Court Judge Thomas O. Rice sentenced Mexican national Luis Esquivel-Bolanos—known as Colorado—to 19 years in prison and five years of supervised release for running a drug trafficking ring that spread meth and fentanyl in eastern Washington and Montana after agents searched homes in Okanogan County. - ➤ Court documents show that around 5:30 a.m. a teenage driver allegedly struck 48-year-old Sarah Doxey, killing her while she was jogging near the 4800 block of South Perry Street in Spokane—witnesses saw him flee and police later arrested him near Manito Country Club on hit-and-run and impaired driving charges. - ➤ In a standoff Friday morning at Valley 206 Apartments on N. Wilbur Road, Spokane Valley police and SWAT engaged an armed, wanted man after a neighbor reported an incident around 2 a.m.—the suspect took a person hostage before fleeing and was arrested at 8:30 a.m. KXLY
