COMMUNITY NEWS

  • People of all ages and abilities attended the annual Ski Fest in Medical Lake on Saturday, where 25 participants used special equipment to try water skiing+boating and swimming. Volunteers followed boats on jet skis+to ensure safety throughout the event.  KXLY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A 350-acre wildfire near Tumtum is threatening homes—evacuations are in place with State Route 291 closed at Corkscrew Canyon Road. Firefighters are using helicopters on rugged terrain to battle the blaze while the American Red Cross opened an evacuation shelter at Lakeside High School.  KXLY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane will see several construction projects begin Monday as crews work on over 3,000 feet of water main replacement+street repairs and ADA-compliant curb ramps on South Freya Street, closing the roadway but keeping local access. Crews will work intermittently on South Lincoln Street this summer with flaggers+detours handling traffic delays.  KXLY

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developers submitted plans to turn a seven-acre site near Target on South Hill into 61 lots in three phases, with the first phase adding 17 homes on 3,000 square foot lots and a 1,400 square foot footprint each. Twigs Bistro at River Park Square will undergo a $1.1 million remodel to add new seating features—while a former Rescue Pub near Riverfront Park is set to become Glaze Nail Salon & Spa at an estimated $400,000 cost.  The Spokesman-Review
