  • Spokane's No-Li Brewhouse hosted its 10th annual Fight Fire event over the weekend and raised $45,000 to support firefighters and families impacted by the Canfield Mountain tragedy + most funds came from pint and six-pack sales with a $10,000 contribution from Watkins Distributing.  The Spokesman-Review

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters continue to battle the Lake Spokane Fire, a 2,000-acre blaze north of Highway 291 between Tumtum and Corkscrew Canyon, while residents evacuate their homes as Level 3 and Level 2 orders take effect — up to 14 air crews are targeting dangerous, rocky terrain.  KXLY

  • Brick West Brewing in Spokane is facing foreclosure on its building but will keep serving customers as co-owner Jordan Tampien said a buyer is lined up and a long-term lease is in place—ensuring the pub continues to operate.  KHQ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Before Spokane was settled, Antoine Plante ran a ferry on the Spokane River near the state line and charged fees for people and animals to cross. A wooden bridge built in 1865 led to a small settlement called Spokane Bridge that later saw steel and concrete bridges replace it, leaving little behind today.  The Spokesman-Review

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Campers at Willow Bay Campground near Nine Mile Falls saw a wildfire start on Saturday afternoon when Dawn and Jim Sarich noticed a puff of smoke turn into flames during their boat ride. A DNR official said aircraft were used because steep rocky terrain prevented safe ground access—fire crews remain optimistic the blaze will be contained soon.  KHQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane Transit Authority has released a Jaws-inspired video showing that its new double decker buses can clear Spokane bridges as they pass under the Jefferson viaduct. Service on routes 6 and 66 to Cheney will begin on Sept. 20 after driver training — the ad was produced entirely in-house to address local clearance concerns.  The Spokesman-Review
