- ➤ Last weekend at No-Li Brewhouse, the 10th annual firefighter benefit raised over $45,000 for the Red and Blue Foundation’s Canfield Incident Fund to assist families of fallen battalion chiefs Frank Harwood and John Morrison and injured firefighter Dave Tisdall—some funds also went to the Spokane Firefighters Crisis Fund. - ➤ On July 19th at 2:20 a.m., two men riding an electric scooter near Division and Dalton lost control when one passenger fell into the roadway and was struck by a northbound semi-truck—police and Spokane Fire responded, but he died at the scene while the truck driver was cooperative. - ➤ Griffin Tavern, a brew pub with British-inspired charm, opened Monday inside the Montvale Hotel at First Avenue - Monroe, replacing the old Brooklyn Deli space and linking with its sister restaurant, Gilded Unicorn, via an elevator or staircase. The tavern offers local brews from a self-serve beer wall and modern comfort food like fish and chips and shepherd’s pie and will operate until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ The City of Spokane is set to pay nearly $4,000,000 to the estate of Robert Bradley—shot in 2002 near his Hillyard home—pending City Council approval on July 28, with the city contributing about $221,000 and its insurance company paying $3,655,000 to drop the lawsuit. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane Transit Authority named Karl Otterstrom as its new CEO to take over from retired Susan Meyer effective Aug. 10.
