Xfinity has opened over 11,000 free WiFi hotspots for those affected by wildfires in Spokane County.

The service runs from today through Aug. 8 (extendable as needed) for anyone, even without an Xfinity account.

Salvation Army Spokane has set up an incident command center to coordinate wildfire relief and support first responders near affected areas plus it invites community donations and volunteer sign-ups for a larger, long-term recovery effort.

Spokane officials announced donation drop-off sites to help those affected by the wildfires.

The City of Spokane began accepting contributions on Sunday at the H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund, while the Garland Theater and Partners INW in Spokane Valley serve as drop-off points Monday through Friday.
