GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane’s City Council races have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars ahead of Tuesday’s primary as conservative and liberal donors back their candidates. In northwest Spokane, incumbent Zack Zappone faces two conservative challengers while contests in northeast and south Spokane show a clear split in donor support—highlighting funding divides across the city.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Spokane County is using millions from opioid settlement funds to expand its addiction and behavioral health services with an $11.5 million project that will add a new 17,000-square-foot building (designed to offer long-term crisis relief) and builds on a previous $5.2 million investment. The project is in pre-development and city officials will review the proposal for permits soon (to help boost the county’s capacity to serve those in crisis).  KHQ
