Spokane-based JK Boots has converted its East Sprague break room into a recharge station for firefighters as part of its Home Front campaign—offering coffee, food, and new gear while donating profits to wildfire relief.

The company plans to donate at least 50 pairs of boots to help crews working the front lines, with deliveries beginning Monday morning.

Feast World Kitchen and local restaurants are giving free meals and essential supplies to first responders and residents displaced by the fires.

They partnered with World Central Kitchen to serve food today plus through August at multiple locations in Spokane.

Spokane's first Punk Rock Flea Market will open this weekend at the Parkade with over 130 vendors showcasing food, community tables + a beer garden.

Admission costs $1 with proceeds going to the city's H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund to aid those hit by recent fires.

A wildfire east of Long Lake this morning forced Level 3 Go Now evacuations on Long Lake Road, but the orders were lifted around 6:15 a.m. today according to Spokane Regional Emergency Communications.

On Saturday, emergency management agencies moved 65,000 residents from wildfire-threatened neighborhoods after Level 3 orders were issued, and officials credited their fast response despite heavy traffic on key evacuation routes.

A disaster assistance center opens today at Shadle Park High School to help residents recover from the wildfire.

The center will run from noon to 6 p.m. today and extend its hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday with county and city staff (and nonprofit representatives) ready to assist affected families.

Richland police officers and firefighters visited Brookdale evacuees who left their homes due to the Spokane Area Fires to offer support — handing out Hershey's Kisses and speaking with residents to remind them that neighbors care.

The visit also thanked local staff for keeping evacuees safe.
