- ➤ The Northeast Youth Center is hosting a lemonade fundraiser to support its youth programs and invite local participation. Organizers will share more details about the event soon. KXLY
- ➤ No-Li Brewhouse hosted a fundraiser on Thursday evening to help Nuestras Raices after the nonprofit canceled its Tacos y Tequila festival over safety concerns and anti-immigrant remarks. The event raised $4,400 and featured live music, and Nuestras Raices plans to bring back the festival next year to help expand its behavioral health center. KXLY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Spokane police arrested Colin L. Pedro (20) Friday afternoon (at 2:52 p.m.) after a stabbing near Post Street Bridge on August 7 left one victim dead and another injured, and they said the surviving victim had been in a romantic relationship with him as he now faces charges of assault and second-degree murder. - ➤ A Cheney man — 68-year-old Edward Goss — was hit by two pickup trucks near Spokane Tribe Casino on eastbound Highway 2 at Fairview Heights Road and died at the scene as authorities said he was standing in the right lane and no substances were involved. KXLY

- ➤ The Blue Waters Bluegrass Festival continues this weekend at Medical Lake’s Waterfront Park with nine bands including Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands who opened on Friday at 4 p.m. Today, festival events feature more bluegrass acts, music workshops, craft and food vendors and camping options—helping the community recover after the 2023 fires.
