- ➤ Red Knights Motorcycle Club, made up of current and retired firefighters and EMTs, rode through Spokane to support local families with supplies and assistance. A heat advisory remains in effect until 9 PM PDT Wednesday in areas including Downtown Spokane—residents are urged to stay cool, drink fluids, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities. KHQ
- ➤ Bite2Go, a program of Second Harvest, is asking for help to feed 13,500 local students this school year after feeding about 9,500 last year. A heat advisory will be in effect from noon Saturday to 9 PM PDT Wednesday—residents are urged to drink fluids, stay cool, and check on neighbors. KHQ
- ➤ Spokane Falls Community College officials submitted an application to remodel the Lodge—a log cabin housing the PACE and SEER programs—with a fully funded $7 million project expected to be substantially completed by August 2026. Downtown, Sunflower Bank will update a building featuring a 'Black Lives Matter' mural for $349,000 while Catholic Charities submitted plans for the St. Agnes affordable housing project in West Hills, which will add 48 low-income units and a 4,500-square-foot office—efforts that support local community needs. - ➤ Spokane has not made much progress in reducing homelessness as about 1,800 people were counted in 2025 while the city’s plan has relied on short-term shelter help. A new Compassionate Public Safety Act will be on the ballot this fall and will try to boost housing options with tiny homes—offering help with mental health and addiction to break the cycle.
