- ➤ The Fall Leaf Festival will return to John A. Finch Arboretum on October 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the free event invites families to enjoy fall activities, vendor displays and free kettle corn with warm drinks for the first 150 visitors in rain or shine conditions. City of Spokane
- ➤ WSECU Fall Fest is scheduled for tomorrow at Riverfront Park and River Park Square from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will offer free arts, culture and family activities — including live entertainment, a pumpkin carving contest, a petting zoo and horse and carriage rides to celebrate fall. - ➤ Last Saturday, more than 100 people gathered in a North Spokane parking lot to celebrate the opening of the Raze Early Learning and Development Center—an early childhood facility focused on the Black American experience—and founder Kerra Bower said the center offers 170 education slots and 35 evening care slots while it awaits final licensing. - ➤ Residents in South Hill were on alert after a cougar was spotted near Manito Park this week while doorbell camera footage and Nextdoor posts showed the animal in nearby neighborhoods—wildlife officials said they will patrol the area and advise residents to secure pets and install motion lights.
