- ➤ Families in Spokane can join the Spo-Candy Crawl on Saturday, October 25 in downtown Spokane from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.—participants will find ten spooky scenes and solve a riddle to earn a bag full of fall goodies, redeemable at the Gesa Credit Union booth at Rotary Fountain Plaza. KXLY
- ➤ The Downtown Spokane Partnership is gearing up for FallCleanWeek to rally volunteers in cleaning leaves, removing graffiti, and planting tulip bulbs for spring—organizers say anyone who loves downtown Spokane can join. - ➤ Police arrested suspect Gunnar Schubert after he broke into the Washington State Capitol and damaged a historic Spokane piano built in 1893—along with flags, statues and a rotunda fire—with the piano suffering light smoke and cosmetic damage and its bench being destroyed while Schubert was later released without bail. - ➤ On Wednesday evening, Venezuelans in Spokane experienced a 35-minute virtual reality film that allowed them to see the ocean and streets of Venezuela. - ➤ On September 21, St. John’s Cathedral on South Hill celebrated 100 years since the land was dedicated with a service led by Dean Heather VanDeventer that re-created the original cross planting and traditional prayers—underscoring the building’s hand-built Gothic design and its role in the community. The cathedral plans future exhibits to share its rare manuscript and tribal history as it continues to serve Spokane. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ Gonzaga University was given the 2025 HEED Award by Insight Into Diversity magazine for the second year in a row—showing its work to create a welcoming campus. - ➤ The City of Spokane released results from its Community Climate Policy Survey, which collected over 1,400 responses from July 21 to August 31 and showed water, human health, and food systems as top priorities for local residents. - ➤ Spokane Valley is looking into installing speed cameras in school zones to reduce speeding and raise funds for traffic safety improvements.
