- ➤ Spokane residents are invited to the Division Street Transit-Oriented Development Plan Workshop at the Wonder Building — 835 N. - ➤ The Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol annual Ski Swap will be held at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center on October 25 and 26, offering new and used ski and snowboard equipment for families before they hit the slopes—admission is $5 and children 12 and under enter free. - ➤ Cleanup contractors responded to 35 gallons of mineral oil spilling on October 10 from an Inland Empire Paper heat exchanger failure, collecting debris from river booms and letting heavy weekend rain disperse the oil along the Spokane River between Argonne Road and Felts Field—Ecology said there were no wildlife impacts and the river stretch has reopened. - ➤ The Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake announced plans to expand its columbarium section by adding eight new walls and about 5,000 niches—changes that will meet long-term interment needs for veterans and their families. KHQ
- ➤ Spokane’s Tourism and Cultural Investment Grants Committee won the Washington State Tourism Award for Advancements in DEI after Mayor Lisa Brown revived it last year—Councilmember Zack Zappone and Visit Spokane CEO Rose Noble reshaped its grant process to ensure lodging tax dollars support local tourism and cultural events. - ➤ Recent data from Spokane Realtors and Coeur d'Alene Regional Realtors shows a 4.9% rise in home sales in Spokane—residential prices fell 2.8% while condominium prices jumped 13.1% and new listings increased 9.1% compared to last September.
