COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Minnehaha Neighborhood Council will host a free family photoshoot with Santa on Saturday, Nov. 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at Minnehaha Park’s Historic Building—families are served on a first-come basis with the option to feature Spokane St. Nick—and will provide free candy canes and hot chocolate while supplies last.  KXLY
  • Noel Mountain Christmas Tree Farm opened its first Spokane location Tuesday in the Grocery Outlet parking lot with 180 noble firs available to raise funds for Joya Child and Family Development—an organization providing pediatric therapy to children with disabilities. The lot plans to add vendors and Santa visits in December to offer more donation opportunities.  KXLY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Spokane keeps its organ music scene alive—groups like the American Guild of Organists Spokane Chapter and Spokane First Nazarene Theatre Organ Society host concerts, lessons, and masterclasses that mix sacred and secular tunes. The theatre organ at Spokane First Church of the Nazarene, a 1914 model restored with volunteer help, will feature a 'Holiday on Pipes' concert Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.  The Spokesman-Review

  • Trader Joe's is set to open in Spokane Valley at the former Shopko on East Sprague Avenue— a ten-year project that officials say will attract shoppers from outside and boost local economic growth.  KHQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane residents who dial 311 reach a team of 12 operatives who handled over 127,000 calls in 2025 averaging 12,000 a month for services like waste, utility billing, and code issues—Communications Director Erin Hut said the system is set up to quickly connect callers to the right department.  KHQ
  • The state is asking Spokane residents for input on plans for unused land by the North Spokane Corridor’s connection to I-90. WSDOT will host a town hall at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Frances Scott Elementary — community feedback will help shape future decisions.  KXLY
  • Senator Maria Cantwell sent a letter to the Joint Committee on Taxation asking them to review tax exemptions in college sports amid rising revenues and concerns over private equity deals. Spokane lawmaker Michael Baumgartner introduced proposals to cap coaching salaries and block private equity—steps that may shape future legislation.  The Spokesman-Review
