The Christmas Bureau welcomed generous donations and volunteer help on Friday as it prepared to serve families in need with dinner and gifts at the local facility — donors like Travis Pattern and Foundry contributed $40,000 while others gave varying amounts to help meet the goal of $600,000 before Christmas.

The city will host its first Riverfront Park Holiday Village soon at the park, where community members can enjoy festive vendors + crafts, seasonal treats and live entertainment.

The event brings local spirit to the park this holiday season.

Developers submitted a permit to build a bank and two retail shops near Lincoln Heights Shopping Center while Soma will remodel its historic church on South Hill.

The city also is planning Meadowglen Park with a playground near the Indian Trail bus stop.

Kirby Moore is the new head coach at WSU as the university announced a leadership change for its sports program.

Bloomsday perennial Kris Olson-Wood finished the 2025 race in 1 hour, 25 minutes and placed sixth among runners in Spokane (she has run all 49 races) and remains active by training on Tubbs Hill.

She looks forward to running her 50th Bloomsday in May.
