- ➤ Spokane County first responders hosted a Holidays and Heroes event Sunday morning at Spokane Valley Walmart, giving children and families food and gifts to brighten their Christmas. Sheriff John Nowels said the 20-year tradition also brought smiles when gift-filled patrol cars delivered the items home. KXLY
- ➤ Cat Tales Wildlife Center will host its annual Christmas celebration on Dec. 25 featuring festive animal encounters and seasonal activities. Families can join the center for special programs and holiday treats. KXLY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Silver Mountain officials announced the ski area remains closed Monday and Tuesday due to an incoming storm. A wind advisory (4:00 p.m. Monday to 6:00 a.m. Tuesday) and high wind watch (Tuesday evening to Wednesday afternoon) are in effect, so residents should secure loose items for safety. KHQ
- ➤ Strong breezes with gusts up to 45 mph have prompted a wind advisory for Spokane starting 4 PM today until 6 AM PST Tuesday, and a high wind watch is in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon—possible tree damage and power outages are expected. KHQ
