Further Info on Why Sound is Oh So Special

What is a Sound Bath?

A sound bath is an immersive experience where you are surrounded or "bathed" in resonant tones. Unlike lyrical or melodic music, these resonant tones are typically sustained and vibratory. Your favorite song may transport you to a sweet memory, filling your mind with sensations from the past. A sound bath's music creates a sensory landscape for your body to rest, restore and reorganize without the narrative of past experienes.

A Bit on the Science of Sound

Every system in your body vibrates at its own frequency. When external sounds, like from a crystal bowl that produces sound waves at 130 Hz, interact with your internal system, a synergistic phenomenon can occur.

Your brain operates through rhythmic electrical patterns many of us have heard of: brainwaves. Each wave frequency is associated with a different state of consciousness (i.e. alpha waves for alertness, theta for meditation and flow, delta for deep sleep). Research shows sound frequencies can engage brain waves to move away from high-process patterns (like beta waves) and into restorative states.

Hormones have been an especially hot topic in the wellness world. Sound baths directly engage with your body systems that regulate many hormones and have been shown to offer desirable effects: activating the parasympathetic "rest + digest" response, corisol reduction, and serotonin and dopamine production.

Sound baths are a non-invasive, prescription-free method to activate your body's inherent regulatory systems.

Who Is Sound Bath Helpful For?

Sound baths can be a helpful tool for anyone, regardless of age, gender, meditation experience, or pre-existing health conditions. They can be especially helpful for individuals who...

• Feel stuck in thought patterns, habits or moods

• Find traditional mindfulness practices to be unproductive or inaccessible

• Struggle with chronic stress, PTSD, or elevated anxiety

• Feel disembodied, disconnected or disempowered

• Long for rest but struggle to relax when the opportunity arises

Give yourself (or a loved one!) the gift of deep rest.
