CRIME NEWS

  • Spokane County deputies executed a search warrant at 6:45 a.m. Thursday on a home in the 600 block of South Farr Road as part of a property crime investigation—several suspects including Shaun Bower and Jasmine Highley, who reportedly broke into a storage unit and stole over $4,000 worth of property, were arrested while five others were taken in on unrelated warrants.  KHQ
  • A new program to support victims of violent crimes in West Plains will launch within the next month after Airway Heights Police Department received a grant from the Washington Attorney General's Office last year and hired two victim advocates—with help from Cheney Police and Eastern Washington University Police—and officials say survivors of domestic violence will soon get general support, financial aid and legal advocacy.  KXLY

  • Spokane Public Schools and the Spokane Park Board plan to expand the Merkel Sports Complex by adding all-weather fields and lighting so families can use it year-round despite past seasonal limits—voter support is needed for the Together Spokane initiative that seeks $240 million for parks and $200 million for schools and may raise taxes by about $8 for the median homeowner.  KHQ
  • During spring break, Emmett Marquardt said he will stay with the Eagles — his local ties helped him decide — and Andrew Cook said he will return next season.
