- ➤ Today, more than 40 community organizations, nonprofits and small businesses host the annual Big Day of Giving at NorthTown Mall from 3 to 8 p.m.—the event offers free Thanksgiving food baskets and drives for canned goods, personal items and shoes. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ Neighbors Feeding Neighbors is preparing over 400 Thanksgiving meals for Spokane residents in need — the meals will be served on Sunday, Nov. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Partners INW, with Terry Powell and Larry Barringer expanding their five-year effort to support families during the holidays. - ➤ Spokane International Airport expects record Thanksgiving travel with over 150,000 seats scheduled from today to December 1. Airport officials advise travelers to arrive at least 2 hours early and check carry-ons for oversized liquids—nearly 3,500 passengers are expected daily with peak times between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.—and those picking up passengers should use the cell phone lot. - ➤ 4 News Now and the Extreme Teams will light up Cowley Park with thousands of holiday lights starting on December 1st ahead of the December 4th ceremony. Mark Peterson—leading the project—is working to bring cheer to kids and the community. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane’s Numerica Skate Ribbon will reopen this weekend with Saturday hours from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets cost $11 for adults, $8 for children aged 3 to 12, free for those 2 and under—Riverfront Park will host a tree lighting event on November 22nd to start the holiday season. KHQ
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A weather balloon launched from Spokane last month collided with a United Airlines Boeing 737 near Moab, Utah on October 16 — injuring the captain — and the flight was diverted to Salt Lake City with no passengers harmed. KXLY
- ➤ On October 16, a United Airlines flight from Denver collided midair with a Spokane weather balloon, breaking the first officer’s windshield and giving the captain minor cuts — all aboard safely diverted to Salt Lake City — as the NTSB investigates the accident. KHQ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center halted its heart transplant program because a staff shortage arose after one surgeon left. Patients on the transplant list were transferred to other centers in Seattle, Portland, and Salt Lake City – their care continued without interruption. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ Whitworth and Chapman will play in the Pine Bowl on Saturday at noon in the NCAA Division III playoffs— the winning team will face Wisconsin-River Falls next. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ The Eastern Washington Eagles will face Cal Poly on Saturday as several seniors play their final game and the team builds on a season of improved defense—recording 13 interceptions and tightening its play on both sides of the ball.
